The El Paso Museum of History says it will not pursue charges against a “young visitor” who recently damaged a sand mandala that was on display.
“The youth in question, along with his parent, followed up with the museum,” the museum said in a social media post. “After reviewing the circumstances, the museum chose not to pursue charges.”
“While this incident is unfortunate, it also offers an opportunity to educate and remind all visitors of the importance of caring for shared cultural spaces,” the museum said. “We appreciate the community’s understanding and continued support of the El Paso Museum of History as we work to make art, culture and history accessible to all.”
