Multiple fire departments responded to a fire early Wednesday morning at the Sam Houston Memorial Museum & Republic of Texas Presidential Library. Huntsville firefighters were called around midnight after a fire broke out near 19th Street and Sam Houston Avenue. When they got there, they found flames spreading across several buildings on the property. Huntsville Fire Chief Greg Mathis said the fire left devastation in its wake. “Huntsville Fire Unit arrived on scene and found two buildings, two outbuildings. One of them was destroyed. One of them was heavily involved in the fire, and it was progressing to a third building, which was a wood shop, there on the museum grounds,” Mathis explained. The two structures destroyed were the pottery shed and glass blower shed, and the woodworking workshop was severely damaged. https://lnkd.in/daa23SU9
