The U.S. Embassy in Moscow warned of "a credible threat of a mass-casualty event" at the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve this past Saturday, urging people to avoid the site, according to an alert.
The warning identified the location as the museum and park complex at 1 Dolskaya Street and said the threat was for October 31. The embassy said the U.S. government was coordinating with Russian authorities in response.
Russia's Federal Security Service said it received information from U.S. partners about preparations for a terrorist attack in Moscow and was taking appropriate measures, according to Russian state media cited by multiple news outlets.
The embassy did not provide details about the suspected plot, potential targets within the reserve, or who might be responsible. Russian authorities had not publicly disclosed further information about the threat.
The Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve is a historic palace and park complex in southern Moscow. The alert did not say whether the site had been closed or whether any arrests had been made.
The warning came as security concerns were heightened in Moscow on Halloween.
