Zoo Atlanta received a bomb threat Saturday afternoon, prompting the evacuation of all guests, members and staff before law enforcement later determined the facility was safe, officials said.
Zoo officials said the threat was reported late in the day and, out of what they described as an “extreme abundance of caution,” the grounds were cleared as a precautionary measure.
Law enforcement responded quickly to the scene and conducted an investigation. Authorities later confirmed that no danger was found and that the zoo was safe.
All visitors and employees were evacuated without incident, officials said. No injuries were reported.
The threat comes amid a series of similar unsubstantiated threats made against organizations across the United States in recent weeks, prompting precautionary responses from public venues and institutions.
Officials did not immediately release additional details about the origin of the threat or whether the investigation remains ongoing.
