In a serious breach of security, a family visiting the Assam State Zoo-cum-Botanical Garden in Guwahati fell victim to theft after their belongings were stolen from a locker inside the zoo premises—right under the watch of security personnel. The incident reportedly took place during a recent visit, when a family from Silapathar had travelled to Guwahati with their child during the summer holidays. Hoping to keep their valuables safe, they stored their bag in one of the zoo’s public lockers before exploring the premises. However, to their shock, the bag was stolen in broad daylight. This incident has raised serious questions about the safety of visitor belongings within the zoo, especially in facilities meant to provide secure storage.
