The Kelton House Museum in downtown Columbus, Ohio suffered devastating damage after a gas leak and explosion, caused a partial collapse and a fire. According to Columbus Fire Assistant Chief Mike Secrist, four firefighters had entered the front of the building when the "catastrophic explosion" occurred in the rear area. The incident was quickly upgraded to a second-alarm fire. The museum employees were already outside before the firefighters went inside. No one was hurt when the rear exploded. Secrist said parts of the roof and rear of the building slowly collapsed while crews were there. A few outbuildings were completely leveled. Eventually, firefighters were able to enter and tried to save the history inside. "Our guys did their best," Secrist said. "They did pull a lot of artifacts and stuff out of this building due to historical significance. We obviously couldn't get everything, but they did their best to make sure everybody was safe and also trying to do some property conservation." Due to the unstable structure, firefighters used aerial streams to fight the fire and drone technology to locate hotspots. https://lnkd.in/gvCr-2mW
